Yankuba Darboe, the Commissioner General of the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), announced yesterday that the authority has generated D6.7 billion during the months of January, February, and March this year.

He revealed this at a press conference that took place yesterday at the GRA headquarters in Banjul.

The GRA boss stated that the authority achieved a collection of D2.6 billion, marking the highest monthly collection in the history of the GRA.

He also noted that GRA collected D2.2 billion in January, D1.8 billion in February, and D2.6 billion in March.

“The Authority is responsible for collecting D23 billion by the end of 2025, which averages nearly D2 billion each month,” the GRA Commissioner emphasised, stating that

This comes after the successful collection of over D20.83 billion in 2024, surpassing the previous target of D19.2 billion by more than D1 billion.

The Authority achieved a nominal revenue growth of 32%, with the Domestic Taxes Department and Customs and Excise Department increasing by 27% and 36%, respectively.

The authority has collected D6.7 billion, leaving D16.3 billion still to be gathered to reach its target. He noted that this “impressive” collection is due to the digital reforms implemented.

“For example, we have generated significant revenue from the fuel marking.” He disclosed, “We were able to collect over D1.3 billion in 2025 alone from that tax line.”

CG Darboe also revealed that the GRA and the Ministry of Finance have entered into an addendum contract regarding revenue assurance related to the telecoms and rental income platform. “This will guarantee increased revenue assurance from those tax lines.” “It will also assist in bridging the gaps regarding the connections,” he stated.

He announced that the rental income tax will take effect on the 1st of May, noting that the authority is actively developing several reforms to enhance revenue collection.
