The United Democratic Party (UDP), under the leadership of its Secretary General and Party Leader, Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, has revealed intentions to initiate a nationwide tour starting next Thursday, 28th November 2024.
Our Nationwide Tour kicks off on 28 November 2024! “We will engage with our people both in person and through media outlets,” Lawyer Ousainou Darboe stated on his official Facebook page.
The tour will commence in the Lower Niumi Constituency at the village of Samba Kalla, followed by a gathering in the Upper Niumi Constituency at Pakau Njogu. The initial meetings are anticipated to be courtesy calls, as detailed in the UDP’s tour schedule. The tour will wrap up on 15th December 2024 with a General Meeting in Banjul.
During the 2021 presidential election, President Adama Barrow received 53 percent of the votes, whereas the UDP candidate, Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, obtained 27.7 percent, as reported by the Independent Electoral Commission. President Barrow is presently undertaking a nationwide “Meet The People” tour and has indicated his desire to seek a third term. Darboe has yet to provide any comments regarding his potential candidature for the upcoming 2026 presidential election or his support for a younger candidate.
